Having used the better part of this week to recover from my 4-day 4th of July feeding frenzy in Chicago last weekend, I must now prepare for yet another mini-adventure…this time to Savannah, Georgia.
Though it is a wedding that brings us to this quaint southern city steeped in American history (and buckets of brown butter and sour cream), my desire to experience classic Southern comfort food has intensified over the years.
I am thoroughly excited to be able to finally get my first taste of the South, so in typical Ubereater fashion, I thought I’d share the Savannah EAT-inerary::
Friday Lunch – Angel’s BBQ
What kind of Yankee yahoo travels below the Mason-Dixon Line and doesn’t get barbecue? Word on the street says this tiny spot downtown serves up some mean pulled pork and the like, including various sauces, and something called “screaming pickle” sauce. That can’t not be good.
Friday Dinner – The Lady and Sons
After all the “too many biscuit” jokes, and sarcastic Hey Y’all’s I’ve spewed over the years, it’s rather ironic that I’m most anticipating eating at the house Paula Deen built the most. We shall see what this meal brings.
Saturday Breakfast – Clary’s Café
This classic Savannah breakfast spot serves up great southern fare, for ridiculously cheap.
Saturday Lunch -- Olde Pink House
Probably one of the most notable restaurants in all of Savannah this giant pink mansion is the setting for some of Savannah’s most romantic meals.
Sunday Breakfast – Huey’s on the River
A perfect way to wrap up the weekend….on the river for some biscuits…
Wish me luck y’all!
